20 ec & pk students study monarch butterflies
As part of the EC/PK curriculum, students (usually about 20) learn about the Monarch butterfly life cycle. Students have caterpillars in butterfly cages. They feed their caterpillars milk weed and observe them daily as they grow. Once the caterpillars form their Chrysalis, the students wait and wait for the butterflies to emerge. Students observe and investigate the life cycle of the butterfly in real time to connect the curriculum to what is happening outside their classroom.
