butterfly garden
Fifteen seventh grade and twenty-three eighth grade students broke ground on creating a Butterfly Garden on campus during the first week in October and will continue working on the garden in the Spring. Plans for the space include plants that will attract and provide refuge for hummingbirds and bees as well as butterflies.

trout in the classroom
Sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students (62 students) at Barnesville participate in Trout in the Classroom through Trout Unlimited. This year, they're raising 174 rainbow trout from eggs to par and will release them into Little Seneca Creek In April. The eggs were delivered on January 16, 2015. Over the course of three months, the students observed the stages in the life cycle of the trout. They fed them, monitored the population for health and general behavior. The seventh graders performed daily water quality testing. While the little trout were growing in the classroom, the first graders (8 students) also took mini field trips to the middle school science room to observe them.
